And Yet, He Loved.

I’ve been reflecting on Jesus’s life during the week of His crucifixion. It is mind-boggling imagining the pain He suffered, the lengths God took to save each and every one of us, and the absolute perfection of His plan. As the day approached, Jesus walked straight into what He was about to suffer; being God, he knew His purpose and that He was the perfect sacrificial lamb, but being man he understood the agony that was coming. We get a look into his turmoil when we read these verses: John 12:27 “Now my soul has become troubled.” Mark 14:34 “My soul is deeply grieved to the point of death.” Luke 22:44 And being in agony He was praying very fervently;...

Quiet Waters

I think most would probably agree with me that last year was powerful. Honestly, it was forceful, destructive, and not at all expected. The chaos of 2020 just slammed its way in and left us scrambling for how to hold on tight to anything we could.  Like an unexpected storm, it came on with fury, flooding every aspect of our lives. Job losses, cancelled events, isolation, political turmoil, riots, and shutdowns. We were desperately trying to stay afloat which meant fighting for anything that made us feel a sense of control. The past year has been a difficult one for me and the promises of protection have given me so much peace. Psalm 91 has been a chapter that the Lord started calling me to last fall right before my beloved daughter became very sick in the hospital. Isn’t it just mind boggling when you realize that God has been preparing you for something that you had no idea was approaching? I had been drawn to it for several months and copied my favorite of those verses...

In Truth and Love

Can I just tell you how crazy excited I am to finally write my first blog post? Almost two years ago, I started this journey with the Lord that would revolve around the concepts of truth and love found in 1, 2, and 3 John. I had been reading and studying these letters for a period of time. In all three, John emphasized the importance of walking in truth and love, as well as commended those who were living this out. I loved reading these letters because it gave me such motivation and encouragement to stand strong and abide in God's truths. In a world where there are so many opportunities to get off track and lose sight, this teaching...
